I’m a Blood Donor!
Posted on April 4, 2010My best girlfriend, Appa, a beautiful Saint Bernard, told me about becoming a canine blood donor. All I would have to do is have my mom take me to the Emergency Animal Clinic to visit Pilar. My mom and I went there on April 7, 2009. We walked in and I had to smell everything. Pilar came and took us back to a little room. Mom told me to be good while she filled out the paperwork. I was so good! I didn’t wiggle at all while Pilar took vials of blood out of me. Then she gave me a cool bandana, a ball and lots of treats! I was a little tired, but so happy.
Pilar will test the blood for parasites and when the tests come back negative then I will visit Pilar every 6 weeks to give a 1/2 liter of blood. The blood will be used to help hurt & sick dogs who are in need of bloods transfusions. Every time I donate, I will get toys, treats, big meal and a stylin’ bandana! Mom said she knows 2 dogs whose lives were saved with blood transfusions. Makes me feel so good to help out. Plus, I get lots of treats and extra loving.

All you other dogs out there (and cats, too) can become animal blood donors. In New Mexico: http://www.vescnm.com/ There are animal blood banks all over the U.S. and world! Find the one closest to you using your favorite search engine.
Dog gone it! Mom fed me before getting my blood tested, messing up my results. Now I have to fast and get more blood drawn for testing. But I will get more toys & treats!
